What is the Smart Water tank level indicator?

Designed and built in New Zealand, Smart Water is a wireless water tank level indicator that shows how much water is in your tanks, on a display in your home and on your phone. It measures the level to an accuracy of +/-0.1%, then learns how you use water so it can tell you how many days you have left.

It works with freestanding and underground tanks up to 5m (16ft) deep, with custom depths available on request. Once it has learned your usage, it can warn you of low days remaining and abnormal usage that may point to a leak.

How does it work?

Three parts work together: a sensor in the tank, a solar-powered tank sender beside it, and a WiFi LCD keypad indoors.

• Sensor: a stainless steel (SS316) pressure sensor sits at the bottom of the tank on a vented cable, so changing weather does not affect the reading.
• Tank sender: solar-powered, it sends each reading wirelessly to the keypad, up to 5 to 10km in line of sight. It charges even in low light.
• Keypad and app: the keypad shows your tank levels on a 2.8" colour touchscreen and passes them over WiFi to the free Smart Water app for iOS and Android. If you do not want the app, the system works without WiFi.

The system is designed for DIY installation. We recommend a qualified electrician fits the wall mount keypad, as it connects to mains power.

How many tanks can it monitor?

Up to 12 tanks from one keypad or the app. Each tank needs its own tank sender, unless your tanks are interconnected and rise and fall together, in which case one sender covers them.

You can start with one tank and add a Tank Level Sender Complete Kit for each new tank later.

Which kit do I need?

Choose a desk or wall display, then add pump control if you need it.

• Desk Mount WiFi LCD Starter Pack: the display sits on a desk or bench. One tank.
• Wall Mount WiFi LCD Starter Pack: the display is fixed to the wall and wired to mains power. One tank.
• 2 Tank Starter Packs: either display, with two tank senders for two separate tanks.
• Starter Pack PRO: adds a 230VAC Wireless Pump Controller, so your pump starts and stops at levels you set.
